Yankeetown School is moving with incredible momentum toward our goal of academic excellence.
Last week we competed in our first sports meets. Our Lady Sandgnats were powerful and inspiring as they battled against Cedar Key, while our Cross Country team made their mark with grace and integrity at Williston. As a school, we are so privileged to have young men and woman setting an example in their community of what dedication and involvement look likes.
YTS also set-up our very own student council in the past month. This select group of students is made up of one boy and girl from grades 5-8; these peer leaders will continue to meet with school and community leadership on a bi-monthly basis to discuss and put in place the much needed changes YTS is experiencing every day.
Mrs. Gayle Gatton has also made a huge impact on our new beginnings. She has created and orchestrated a Volunteer Orientation (a second to follow on September 30, check our calendar for details) in which she detailed and discussed the specific needs we have on our campus. As a school we are not afraid to ask for help and Mrs. Gayle Gatton has done an incredible job making that task as organized and easy as possible for both school members and community volunteers.
As the days keep rolling, as a school, we will continue to ban together and face the challenges we are handed. An incredible staff and supportive community are a great make for success, but factor in our Sandgnat students and we are destined for academic excellence!
