Ever since the introduction of Chromebooks to our YTS campus, we’ve progressed a lot as students, and as a school.
Many in-school groups, as well as individual students, have made a lot of progress because of the simplicity and mobility of the small machines. They are simple enough for everyone to use, as well as, small enough to carry around easily.
Many in school groups use the Chromebooks on a daily basis.
Not only do we use Chromebooks for extra curricular activities, but we use them to make, interact, and turn in class assignments (Ex. Essays). With the use of our Google Classrooms our instructors can create assignments that we can complete from anywhere. In the Google Docs application we can type the assignment from anywhere, share it with our teachers, and there’s no chance of losing it or forgetting it somewhere. With the auto save feature, we also have no chance of losing our progress! As an 8th grader, we have also made use of the Google Slide application when our entire class collaborated to create 1 single power point that was presented to our local veterans at our Veteran’s Day program.
Teachers are also using these Chromebooks during Professional Development sessions as a means of submitting their own feedback to one another. The staff at YTS utilizes a Google Classroom so they can communicate more efficiently, collaborate with ease, and engage the short attention spans of us students.
Overall, the introduction of Chromebooks to our Yankeetown School campus has made our tasks much easier to accomplish and we are thankful to be a Google Education School!

- The Health Opportunities Through Physical Education group use Chromebooks every day during last period to complete online classes and assignments.
- The Student Government group uses them often to organize events that they host as well as meetings. For example, two female representatives from Student Government are currently using them to organize the Eighth Grade End of the Year Dance. These ladies use these devices to communicate with their committee, share documents, collaborate on documents, design invitations, menus, and requirements.
- Three students on campus are also working on designing two different t-shirts through Google Drawings. These students are working closely with Ms. Wade as she has already created 3 t-shirt designs through this program and our school has benefitted from the profits.
